“Friend Me” Facebook Application, Designed Specifically For Android Tablets, Available Now - Lomoco Labs Builds Tablet-Optimized and Feature-Rich Facebook Application, Free of Charge and Free of Advertising

Locomo Labs, a mobile application development company focusing exclusively on the Android platform, announces the release of “Friend Me,” a Facebook application designed specifically to work with the Android tablet and Honeycomb, the newest version of the Android operating system. Friend Me is a free application with no advertising, available for download now from Android Market.

Galaxy users have long complained about the shortage of applications designed for tablets that run Google's new Android operating system. Many apps designed for Android phones also work on tablets, but they don't always run well or take full advantage of the tablet's larger screen.

“There was a clear need for a Facebook app that makes good use of the tablet’s size and features,” commented application developer and Locomo Labs founder, Chris Stewart. “I build apps that respond to what the market wants, but I’m also a consumer. Just like everybody else, I want apps that do what they promise, do it well, and without a lot of aggravation.”

Friend Me includes many of the Facebook features most-requested by the Android user and development community. New features will continue to roll out in the coming weeks.

New Facebook App to help English Learners Build their Vocabulary

British Council Launches English Vocabulary App for Facebook - Teachers and learners of English can now access a new resource to help build vocabulary and improve language skills thanks to the British Council’s latest Facebook app. Pic-Your-Wits is an interactive English vocabulary game with pixelated pictures for learners to guess the words and beat the clock. It is available on Facebook today for free.

Ann Foreman, Social Media Consultant at the British Council, said: “Each month Pic-Your-Wits responds to learners’ requests and publishes a new set of vocabulary to challenge them. Pic-Your-Wits also helps learners to practise what they’ve learnt by pointing them in the direction of more activities on the LearnEnglish website – all of which relate to the current picture set. The first picture set is of animals, so this month learners have the opportunity to read and listen to stories, poems and magazine articles on the theme of animals. Next month the game will expand with another picture set with more suggestions for activities to help learners build their language skills. In this way, an apparently simple vocabulary game will gradually be transformed into a really comprehensive learning tool.”

The number of entries received for competitions hosted on Sony Ericsson's global page is repeatedly highest in weeks where either a Cosmic Black camera phone from the Vivaz range or a Sensuous Black handset from the Xperia™ collection is the prize on offer.

The competitions, which can be entered by Facebook users that like Sony Ericsson's Facebook page have become increasingly popular since they started running on a weekly basis in April 2010. By following Sony Ericsson Tennis on Foursquare, fans can unlock tips and information about women's tennis and the WTA. The page was launched in late October and announced on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page.

Foursquare is an application that encourages people to explore new locations and rewards people with virtual badges and even discounts or special offers.
