50 Principles for Successful Launch of Products Revealed

50 Secrets for Successful Consumer Technology Products Revealed - The Digital Life Consulting Group's Product Success Deck Offers 50 Principles for a Better Launch, More Successful Product, and Happier Customers.

The Digital Life Consulting Group today announced the publication of its Product Success Deck. The card deck teaches any company--startup or established--how to turn technologies into great consumer products.

50 secrets to successful consumer technology products

As consumer technology products entered everyone's lives over the past decade, the Digital Life Consulting Group set out to understand what made some consumer tech products succeed and others fail. The card deck contains the best-practices discovered along with sample exercises to help companies create more successful products and launches.

"We observed during the past decade, one of the strongest and most loved brands, Sony, has struggled while a company left for dead 10 years ago, Apple, has risen to the top. In addition, companies like Bose can charge $500 for a clock radio (and have delighted customers) while others struggle if their product is priced even a few dollars above a competitor," said Joshua Weinberg, President, Digital Life Consulting Group. "We discovered that successful consumer technology products depend on far more then a great product. The entire customer experience is critical. These cards teach companies what they need to do to create these great experiences."

New 3D Series of Home Entertainment Products - Kogan

Kogan Keeping 3D Prices Fair for Every Aussie - Staying true to its promise of making 3D technology affordable for every Australian, Kogan recently unveiled its new 3D TV series.

Kogan today unveiled a new 3D series of home entertainment products, making 3D technology affordable for all Australians.

The Kogan 3D TV LED series has everything you've come to know and love from Kogan's award-winning LED TVs, including a built-in PVR to pause, rewind and record live TV, USB input for playing movies and photos, and a stylish chassis housing a crystal clear LED panel.

Kogan 3D Series TVs convert 2D to 3D on the fly, play 3D video games through your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, and play High Definition 3D content from any 3D enabled device.

Most importantly, Kogan will never make customers pay for features they don't want. The big name brands lump 3D into every TV in an effort to keep prices high. Kogan is driving down prices of LED TVs while offering more choice than ever before.

Ruslan Kogan said the launch starts the 3D LED price wars and brings the option of 3D to the mainstream.

“3D has been used by big name brands to continue to charge more than they should for the latest TVs.

“We quickly realised that the actual technology in a 3D LED TV that enables this feature is relatively inexpensive, and we’re entirely transparent about the added costs. Essentially, it’s just an additional infared receiver that communicates with your 3D glasses to ensure they are in sync.

Glasses-Free 3D Display - Holovision™ Technnology Patents Approved

Patents Approved for Holovision(TM) Glasses-Free 3D Display - Holovisions LLC, a Minnesota-based company developing new technologies for glasses-free 3D display with full motion parallax, is pleased to announce the approval of three new U.S. patents (7,889,425, 7,957,061, and 7,978,407) enabling its Holovision™ 3D display technology.

Glasses-Free 3D Display - Holovision™ Technnology

Unlike most methods of 3D display, Holovision™ does not require special eyewear and can potentially provide full motion parallax for multiple viewers in many directions throughout a wide viewing zone, can produce non-transparent images, and can create large-scale displays.

The first patent underlying Holovision™ technology is U.S. patent 7,889,425 -- “Device with array of spinning microlenses to display three-dimensional images”. Each spinning microlens in this device redirects light rays from one or more small image elements. Different content is seen from different viewing angles. The image contents displayed by small image elements are coordinated with the movement of the spinning microlenses, through which these image contents are directed, to form a pattern of light rays with the proper content and directionality so as to create the perception of 3D images. The second patent underlying Holovision™ technology is U.S. patent 7,957,061 -- “Device with array of tilting microcolumns to display three-dimensional images.” Each tilting microcolumn in this device allows the passage of light from one pixel. The interior of the microcolumn allows the passage of light, but the wall blocks or reflects light. The third patent underlying Holovision™ technology is U.S. patent 7,978,407 -- “Holovision™ 3D imaging with rotating light-emitting members.” Changes in the content of light rays from the light-emitting members are coordinated with changes in the directions of these light rays so that viewers in different positions can see appropriate three-dimensional images.

3D-DRAM Technology Increases Memory Density over Conventional DRAMs

Startup Announces Monolithic 3D DRAM Technology - MonolithIC 3D Inc., one of the industry’s leading innovators in 3D-IC technology, has unveiled a monolithic 3D DRAM technology. The startup claims this technology can provide a 2x-3x increase in memory density over conventional DRAMs at comparable costs.

Zvi Or-Bach, President and CEO of MonolithIC 3D, said, “The DRAM industry faces several difficult challenges today with scaling and, in particular, with lithography. Companies using our monolithic 3D DRAM technology can reduce their lithography risk and get a much better return-on-investment for their fab equipment.”

The Monolithic 3D DRAM technology was announced with an invited presentation at the American Vacuum Society 3D Workshop in San Jose. Dr. Deepak Sekar, Chief Scientist of MonolithIC 3D Inc. and presenter at the workshop said, “We use a 3D stacked architecture and share lithography steps among multiple memory layers. The NAND flash memory industry has been pursuing 3D technology with shared lithography steps with polysilicon transistors for some time now. At MonolithIC 3D Inc., we use single crystal silicon transistors, and that allowed us to apply these concepts to DRAM.”

The technology leverages a technique known as ion-cut to stack high-quality single crystal silicon layers at low thermal budgets. Ion-cut is the dominant technology used for producing silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers for logic technologies today and has been in manufacturing for more than 10 years. Several companies such as Silicon Genesis and Twin Creeks Technologies are exploring its use for solar as well.
